Long-Term Care Specialist & Financial Advisor

Northwestern Mutual – Durham

Barbara DeBerry is a Long-Term Care Specialist and Financial Advisor with Northwestern Mutual, in Durham.  Her practice focuses on protecting the family relationships, financial security, and legacies of her clients through long-term care planning.

Barbara is passionate about long-term care planning and its integration into a holistic financial plan.  Her personal extended care experiences within her family, as well as those of her clients, have strengthened her commitment to widespread education about long-term care insurance for consumers and their advisors.  She is a frequent presenter to other professionals on the topic.

Prior to joining Northwestern Mutual in 1996, Barbara worked for 11 years in the banking industry as a Commercial Lender & Private Banking Manager. 

Barbara sits on the Board of Caring House, is Chair of The Legacy Committee at Duke Memorial United Methodist Church, and is a Member of The Steering Committee of Dementia Inclusive Durham.  She has been married to Tad for 26 years and they have 2 daughters, ages 19 and 22.

A 1985 graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, with a BS in Business Administration, Barbara is a native of Asheville, North Carolina.
